Scyllogis offers a comprehensive array of consultancy services providing everything required for successful delivery of the most sophisticated IT change programme. We take full responsibility for whole programmes, projects or sub projects, drawing on a full spectrum of capabilities to deliver you a complete and fully implemented solution. We are also, of course, able to provide each of our services independently, or to offer these for use in collaboration with your own staff, in order to solve particular issues within your business. Some examples of the projects on which we consult include:
• Package system implementations
Pre and post system implementation studies Project initiation Programme / project management System design and integration Requirements definition Management information definition and delivery mechanisms Data migration planning and specification Training & documentation User acceptance test support Interim IT management GENIUS System Selection ProcessIf you are intending to purchase a ‘package’ system, Scyllogis can assist with all stages of the vendor selection process. Based on discussions with key stakeholders from the business we will help you prepare the ‘Request for Proposal’ that will define the strategic and operational requirements. Once this is done, we will help you select vendors best suited to receive the RFP. Scyllogis will then aid you in answering questions from the vendors; evaluating their RFP responses; shortlisting vendors and managing the final selection process, including facilitating vendor presentations. Once a vendor has been selected, Scyllogis offers you invaluable experience in negotiating appropriate service, maintenance and licence contracts. Pre and post system implementation studiesBefore you embark on the implementation of a new system, we can undertake a pre- implementation study, analysing existing systems, existing processes, data requirements, reporting requirements and strategic improvement opportunities. This results in a comprehensive ‘blue print’ for the new system. It can also provide a valuable ‘gap analysis’ of the fit between the new system capabilities and the enterprise requirements. We are then able to architect solutions to deal with the gaps that have been identified. We can apply a similar process to an existing system. This will deliver a ‘blue print’ that can be used to define a programme capable of achieving strategic improvements necessary to meet the evolving needs of the enterprise. Project initiationScyllogis can assist in the initiation of any IT change programme. Based on PRINCE2 techniques we can define project parameters including:
•Project scope, exclusions, objectives, deliverables, constraints, critical success factors Programme/project managementEffective project management is key to successful realisation of any project. Scyllogis assign experienced project and programme managers who take full responsibility for managing your project in line with proven PRINCE2 techniques. We will also provide project managers with proven track records in successful troubleshooting and project recovery. System design and integrationScyllogis possesses the expertise required for both functional and technical architecture roles. We are able to design new systems from scratch and also to mastermind the integration of existing systems into the enterprise landscape. We have significant experience in designing insurance ‘front office’ systems harnessing modern, browser based technologies. These can then be integrated with legacy ‘mid office’ and ‘back office’ systems enabling them to be successfully deployed to business partners or customers, as well as internal users. Such integration might involve, for example, automated data flows via interfaces that span different technologies or might entail ‘real time’ integration via a ‘service oriented approach’. Combining management and technical expertise with deep industry understanding, we collaborate with your business and technology leadership teams to conceive and implement systems and applications that deliver real results in your business. Requirements definitionAnalysis and documentation of the business requirements in terms which can be readily understood and commented upon by all stakeholders within your organisation is an essential stage in the process of scoping and delivering a system that will truly support your needs. Our specialist Business Analysts are highly experienced in working with insurance industry business managers to draw up, review and agree business-focussed requirements definitions for each system change. Once these comprehensive documents have been agreed, the technical design and test plan can be produced. Management information definition and delivery mechanismsInformation is one of a company’s most valuable assets, and its ability to analyze, plan and react to changing business conditions at speed is critical, especially in the down cycle. To do this your board, Chief Underwriting Officer, actuaries and risk managers, among others, all need instant and flexible access to your intelligence. Despite the presence of ever more powerful computers on desktops, and of networks that span the globe, many companies’ executives and decision makers are unable to effectively access critical information residing within the organization. Scyllogis can help you free your data and put it to work. We can assist in the design and build of a data warehouse and design the feeds necessary to populate it. We’ll ensure the most appropriate delivery mechanisms, whether you require output to traditional reports or by on line enquiry. We can also ensure delivery to third parties such as reinsurers, coinsurers, brokers, risk managers or captives. Data migration planning and specificationIf the implementation of your new system requires the migration of data from an old system, we’ll take complete responsibility for the planning, specification, management and testing of the data migration programme. We will produce all technical specifications for the migration, including transformation rules. Testing includes full documentation, and we will manage all liaisons with auditors to ensure compliance with their requirements. Training & documentation
Whether it’s for a system we have designed ourselves, or a third-party package, Scyllogis can provide training programmes to ensure your staff are fully conversant with its use. In addition to live training, we can also provide manuals, on line help text and other training materials.
User acceptance test supportIn any IT change management programme, it is essential that the business verify that its new or changed software meets the business needs and functions in line with expectations. For most companies and their staff, this is a new and unknown responsibility and some help and mentoring are needed in undertaking this important task. Scyllogis has accumulated significant experience in providing Software Verification and Validation support services to our clients, assisting them in the test and validation of new software, or of changes made to existing software, before it is introduced into the production environment. The services we provide cover test planning; test execution; results documentation; and issue tracking. Interim IT managementThe use of interim managers working on a fixed term contract offers a fast and flexible solution to a variety of corporate initiatives and situations. Situations in which this is likely to prove an effective solution include new company start-ups; cover for absence; unexpected vacancy or provision of specialist expertise, and Scyllogis is able to provide individuals with the appropriate insurance industry knowledge and technical capabilities, as well as with experience of seamlessly picking up the reins. GENIUSWhile Scyllogis is independent of any software vendor, we have built up extensive expertise in GENIUS, one of the most widely used insurance management packages in the world. We strongly believe that our concentration of GENIUS expertise surpasses that of the vendor itself. Subsequently we can provide a compelling alternative to GENIUS customers wishing to undertake, for example, implementations, enhancements, systems integration and data migrations or any of the other services detailed above. |
