| MISSISSIPPI WIND POOL BOARD IN LONDON FOR REINSURANCE TALKS |
| Industry News | |

|
Members of the Mississippi Wind Pool Board are in London for a week looking to buy reinsurance protection for the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association (MWUA), reports The Mississippi Press. The MWUA insures about 46,000 coastal residences with about $7.1bn in cover. Last year the wind pool bought $815m of reinsurance for premiums of $69m. It paid a similar amount in 2010 for $750m of protection. Reinsurance Committee Member Mark Cumbest, in London with three other board members, said that the cost of reinsurance was the major expense for the wind pool in a non-storm year, and was also the major driver of insurance costs for wind pool customers.
