saw 2011 net earnings fall 5% to $1.02bn, reflecting earned premiums of $14.90bn, up 4% and claims costs of $10.63bn, up 5%. The group's combined ratio rose to 93% from 92.4%. Results also reflected investment income of $480m, down 8%, and realized investment gains of $102.6m, up 7%. For Q4, Progressive saw net income fall 14% to $256.7m, as realized investment gains dropped 62% to $29.5m. Earned premiums for the period rose 4% to $3.78bn, as the combined ratio improved to 93% from 93.1%.
