Our People

Experience

Our knowledge and understanding of the Insurance industry sits at the very core of our ability to contribute to your business.

Consequently, every member of the Scyllogis team working on your project  will have a minimum of five years experience in the Insurance market. Often, this experience will be in excess of 10 years.

Many of our team have worked on insurance projects around the world. Their outlook is truly pan-global and they can be counted on to adapt effortlessly to whatever cultural diversities they might encounter on your project.

Approach

Our consultants bring a proactive, autonomous and ‘can do’ approach to your project. Their brief is to work alongside you and your in-house team in a collaborative fashion and to demonstrate ‘thought leadership’ rather than merely responding to requests. They work in a methodical, structured way, documenting their work wherever possible. In this way, we are able to impart a legacy that benefits your organisation after our task is completed.

All our programme and project managers are expected to have attained PRINCE2 qualification,. We consider that this structured approach to project management significantly reduces risk of project failure.

Collaboration

It can be difficult for a company to gain acceptance from its permanent staff for the use of consultants. Our consultants, however, have gained an admirable reputation for integrating with client staff. This results in reduced risk of failure due to the animosity of permanent staff, as well as an increase in residual knowledge as permanent staff gain valuable learning from our consultants.

Colin co-founded Scyllogis Consulting in 2001 and is also the most senior consultant within the company. He has 22 years experience in insurance IT gained within supply side organizations. Before founding Scyllogis, Colin held managing board level roles within a significant insurance software and services company, where he had responsibility for managing software development and system implementation programs in Europe, North America, Bermuda and the Far East. In 1995 Colin ran the US region for this company and oversaw a 130% increase in business. In 1999 he formed a new European division that quickly won major system replacement programs for Winthertur International (Now XL Insurance), AXA and ACE.

This experience has given Colin an extensive knowledge of implementing systems within insurance (most notably GENIUS), as well as an understanding of the business of insurance not typically seen in an IT person. This means that any client can be confident that he will ensure that IT activities are not run in isolation from the business. Colin has the knowledge and confidence to challenge the business and provide 'thought leadership'.  Colin’s holistic understanding of insurance means that he can critically review solution components in the context of the overall process, which is far more likely to highlight issues.

Colin has a BSc in Chemistry from London University. He lives in London.
