TINtech 2010, the Insurance Network Technology Conference, which took place last Tuesday 29 June 2010 at Dexter House, London, was a resounding success for both Scyllogis Consulting, as an event sponsor and exhibitor. and for the delegates attending the event. TINtech is a unique event that brings together technology vendors and delegates from the Commercial, London and Lloyds markets in a day long conference that includes presentations, workshops, and plentiful networking opportunities. More than 200 delegates attended this event, and there were numerous exhibitors, including us!
In the morning, after coffee and refreshments, delegates attended
Keynote Presentations by Toby Redshaw from Aviva, Chris Lee-Smith from
Willis UK & Ireland, and David
Rasche from SSP. After the presentations, the first morning stream
sessions were held, covering topics such as Personal Lines, Lloyds and
London Market, Commercial Insurance and Reinsurance...
Following a buffet lunch, a series of afternoon
workshops took place. Among them was a workshop chaired by Scyllogis Director Colin
Whickman, on the subject of Straight Through Processing ('STP'). This
workshop dealt with the challenges and benefits of STP in which data is keyed only once, at source, and transmitted
electronically through the supply chain and to the back office systems
without the need for being re-keyed. This approach can create a significant increase
in efficiency as well as a reduction in costs and manual errors.
Following Colin’s presentation, Chris Gorge, CIO of Tokio Marine
Europe, delivered a subsequent presentation on how Scyllogis Consulting had provided the STP solution for TME which had dramatically reduced their end-to-end processing time. Not
only had the solution proved fast and reliable, it was also extremely flexible, and when providers wanted to send data in new formats, the system was able to
accept the new formats with only minimal modifications.
Other workshops that took place during the day included: Core Systems & Processes;
Linking Customer Communications and Business Processes; eBusiness,
Connectivity & Improving Business Performance; Addressing Claims
Challenges with Technology; Augmenting Legacy IT Systems; Effective
Customer Communications Management; and Transforming IT and
Consolidating Core Platforms.
At the end of the day following the workshops, a cocktail reception was held in the main
exhibition hall for all event attendees. Everyone watched with anticipation as the eagerly awaited prize draw ws held and one
very lucky delegate went home with a new iPad!
The Conference turned out to be both interesting, thought provoking and extremely informative with a diverse range of topics and speakers, and Scyllogis look forward to
attending next year’s event.
