Colin co-founded Scyllogis Consulting in 2001 with Sarah Abbott, and is also the most senior technical consultant within the company. He has over 30 years experience in insurance IT gained within supply side organisations. Before founding Scyllogis, Colin held managing board level roles within a significant insurance software and services company, where he had responsibility for managing software development and system implementation programs in Europe, North America, Bermuda and the Far East.
In 1995 Colin ran the US region for this company and oversaw a 130% increase in business. In 1999 he formed a new European division that quickly won major system replacement programs for Winthertur International (Now XL Insurance), AXA and ACE.
This experience has given Colin an extensive knowledge of implementing digital systems within insurance, as well as a holistic understanding of the business of insurance. This means our customers can be confident he will ensure technology and digital activities are not run in isolation from the business. Colin uses this knowledge and confidence to challenge both the business and market initiatives, and provide thought leadership. Colin’s holistic understanding of the global commercial insurance market means that he will critically review solution components in the context of the overall strategy, which puts him in a position of understanding any potential issues and their most effective resolution.
Colin has a BSc in Chemistry from London University. He lives in London.
Sarah co founded Scyllogis Consulting in 2001 with Colin Whickman. With over 25 years experience in commercial, sales and marketing roles within the IT environment of various industry sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals, sports & leisure, to financial services, Sarah’s previous roles included working for Glaxo Wellcome (now GSK) for MRPII global implementation rollout, Commercial and Marketing Director of Wembley London Ltd. (who at the time owned both Wembley Arena and Wembley Stadium), has worked as Sales and Marketing Director for various independent software houses, and in the financial services sector for several banks and interdealer brokers including Lloyds Bank, and Charles Fulton and Company, (now Tullett Prebon, TPICAP).
This experience has given Sarah an extensive knowledge of implementing digital growth strategies, as well as an accurate understanding of the complex commercial issues confronting such a diverse range of horizontal business sectors. Within Scyllogis Consulting, Sarah is responsible for setting the commercial and strategic direction of the Company, and jointly responsible, with Colin, for business development activities.
